Pokallus, Joyce A. (Stelson) (4 OCT 1929 - 21 JUN 2018)

Joyce A. Pokallus, 88, of Spencer, passed away surrounded by family early Thursday morning on June 21, 2018, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Marshfield, where she resided for the past year.

Her funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer with Pastor Gisele Berninghaus officiating. Burial will follow in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday at the funeral home from 5PM until 7PM and again on Tuesday from 10AM until time of services.

The honor of pallbearer will belong to her grandsons Kevin Rand, Chad Pokallus, Brandon Luedtke, Jeremy Day, Jacob Day, Matthew Prein and Kyle Pokallus.

Joyce was born October 4, 1929 in Marshfield, the daughter of John and Bernice (Sanders) Stelson. She graduated from Marshfield Senior High. Joyce was united in marriage to Lawrence H. “Larry” Pokallus on November 15, 1947 in the former Saint Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Sadly, Larry passed away on December 24, 2016. Joyce lived her life as a dedicated wife and mother to her six children. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield.

Her hobbies included tending to her flowers, throwing out a line and doing some bobber fishing, sitting around the campfire with her family, spending time with her grandbabies and catching a glimpse of her hummingbirds in her backyard. In years past, Joyce was known to have babysat many young Spencer kids caring for each of them as though they were her own.

Survivors include her children: Diane (Mark) Rand of Spencer, Greg (Deb) Pokallus of Spencer, Patti (Ralph) Luedtke of Port Washington, Jody (Jim)Day of Spencer, Scott (Deb) Pokallus of Spencer and Jeff (fiancé Tina McIntyre) Pokallus of Neillsville; her grandchildren: Kim, Kevin, Brittany, Jennifer, Chad, Jason, Brandon, Jeremy, Jacob, Jayme, Matthew, Tiffany, Kyle and Cassidy; 20 great grandchildren; her sister Marvel Woodward of Marshfield, along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, a grandson Bradley, a great grandson, Aydin and one brother Dale Stelson.

In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting memorials in Joyce’s name for a charity to be determined at a later time. Arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
