Schiszik, Iris K. (Johnson) (6 FEB 1926 - 27 JUN 2018)

Iris K. Schiszik, age 92 of Curtiss passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at The Waterford Assisted Living in Colby under the tender care of hospice.

A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday for visitation.

Iris K. Schiszik, age 92 of Curtiss passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at The Waterford Assisted Living in Colby under the tender care of hospice.

A Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Curtiss. Reverend Ken Schmidt will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery, rural Curtiss. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday for visitation.

The honor of pallbearers belongs to her grandsons: Mike Schiszik, Ryan Schiszik, Kris Schiszik, Ryan Griepentrog, Ben Nikolay and Craig Kallenbach.

Iris was born on February 6, 1926 the daughter of Jacob and Lucy (Green) Johnson in Curtiss. She graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1944 and worked in Chicago in the weapons development plant during WWII. On June 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Earl Schiszik at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Curtiss. For many years, Iris worked for the U. S. Postal Service.

Iris was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She liked camping, gardening, canning, especially pickles and preparing Sunday dinners. Iris was known for her cakes and pies. Most importantly, she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.

Iris is survived by her husband of 68 years, Earl; three children: Victor (Jane) Schiszik of Medford, James (Sharon) Schiszik of Spencer and Janine Schiszik of Stratford; seven grandchildren: Kris (Marsha) Schiszik, Kayda (Travis) Hawker, Kelly (Craig) Kallenbach, Michael (Heidi) Schiszik, Ryan (Gayle) Schiszik, Ryan (DeAnn) Griepentrog, Amber Nikolay (Marc Pope) and Ben (Tina) Nikolay; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Sharon Brecke of Owen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and two sisters: LaVern Johnson, Lyle Johnson, Carol Bochnia and Ramona Schaus; one grandson, Corey and one great-grandson, Jacob.

Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
