Jorstad, Hartwell (23 APR 1894 – 28 NOV 1971)

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 1971 at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home for Hartwell Jorstad, 77, of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), who died Sunday at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley.

The Rev. Lester Kringle, pastor of Alliance Missionary Church, Owen, officiated, and burial was made in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.

Pallbearers were George Hamm, Gordon Belongia, Lee Schmidt, Lyle Johnson, Robert Hamm and Fred Borchardt.

Mr. Jorstad was born April 23, 1894 in the Town of Longwood, Clark County, and was married their June 4, 1917 to Etta Poppe, who preceded him in death in 1949.

The couple farmed in the town of Holway, Taylor County for eight years, and he also had been employed in a sawmill for 20 years.

He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Fred (Mae) Borchardt and Mrs. Lyle (Sylvia) Johnson, both of Wausau; Mrs. George (Milson) Hamm, Owen; and Mrs. Gordon (Betty) Belongia, Little Lake, Michigan; a son, Vernon Jorstad, Appleton; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and two brothers, John, Pueblo, Colorado, and Adolph, Bemidji, Minnesota.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four sons, a sister and two brothers.
