Monday, November 29, 1971, the Foremost Foods Co. held a Safety Banquet at the
American Legion Hall honoring all the employees of the Owen (Clark Co., Wis.)
plant for a full year with no time lost due to industrial accidents.
Guests speakers were George Ward, Regional Manager; Robert Dietrich, Personnel
Manager, and Jack Fisher, Operations Manager. Also attending were Vincent Koch
and George Antholz of the Rothschild plant.
The safety record achieved by the Owen plant is party of the new emphasis place
on safer and better working conditions by Foremost throughout the entire
company. Owen was the first to reach the full year of no lost time accidents. A
trophy has been awarded, and it will be taken by each plant that reaches the one
year goal. When one plant wins it three times, they may keep it permanently.
The Owen employees worked a total of 101,913 hours in the one year period.
Thirty-seven employees were honored for working over five years without a lost
time accident, 14 for over two years, and 1 for over one years. A few of the
employees have over 20 years with no lost time accident.
Foremost Foods Co. of Owen is very proud of their safety program and hope it
continues for a long time to come, since accidents hurt both employees and
employers. There are no winners in a accident.
