Tonn, Anna (28 FEB 1893 – 04 DEC 1971)
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, December 8,
1971, at St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Curtiss for Mrs. Franklin (Anna) Tonn,
78.
She passed away Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she was
taken following a heart attack suffered at the Colonial Nursing Home in Colby,
where she was a resident.
The Rev. Arthur Rasch, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran church of Green Gove, and
the Rev. Roger Tellock, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Curtiss,
officiated, and burial was made in Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss.
Serving as pallbearers were Armin Peterson, Ray Kopps, Clarence Geary, Franklin
Peissig, Victor Borgemoen, and Herb Fahrenbach.
The former Anna Schultz was born February 28, 1893 in the town of Little Black
(Taylor County), near Medford. She was married May 22, 1912 in Curtiss (Clark
Co., Wis.) to Franklin Tonn, who preceded her in death January 14, 1948.
The couple came to Curtiss in 1912 and operated a store and hotel there for
several years. She also operated a tavern in Curtiss until 1963, when she
retired.
For more than 20 years she served as a correspondent for the Owen Enterprise.
She was a member of St. Pau’s Lutheran Church of Green Rove, and was an active
energetic worked in all civic affairs.
Survivors include a son, Harold Tonn of Escanaba, Mich.; three grandchildren;
five sisters, Mrs. Amanda Virch, Peshitgo; Miss Martha Schultz, Gertrude
Schultz, and Hattie Elstmann, all of Milwaukee; and a brother, Frank G. Schultz,
Brooklyn, S.D.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son.
