Elmhorst, Clarence F. (30 September 1902 – 27 February 1975)
Clarence F. Elmhorst of Memorial Home, a retired Town of Grant farmer and milk
hauler, died February 27, at the age of 72. Funeral services were held Monday
from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff
officiating. Interment was in the Town of Grant Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Clarence Elmhorst, so of Henry, R. and Martha (Desen) Elmhorst, was born
September 30, 1902, at Buckingham, Il., and received his education in schools in
Illinois and Iowa before moving with his parents to a farm near Granton. His
marriage to the former Helen Wegner took place November 29, 1925, in
Neillsville. Mrs. Elmhorst preceded her husband in death on January 26, 1955.
Following his marriage, Mr. Elmhorst farmed in the Town of Grant and hauled milk
for many years. A member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, he retired
from farming 20 years ago.
Survivors include three children: Ronald Elmhorst of Loyal, Wendell Elmhorst of
Rt. 1 Neillsville and Mrs. Clinton (Dianne) Vaughan of Spencer; seven sisters:
Mrs. Amandia Witheft and Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Capelle, both of Herscher, Il.,
Mrs. Ted (Emma) Smith of Granton, Mrs. Arthur (Evelyn) Lipke of Denver, Co.,
Mrs. Harold (Vera) Lemke of Loyal, Mrs. John (Verna) Stover of Boulder, Co., and
Mrs. Vernon (Laura Mae) Wegner of St. Paul, Mn.; four brothers: Walter Elmhorst
of Chili, Henry Elmhorst of Neillsville, Carl Elmhorst of Marshfield and Eldon
Elmhorst of Peotone, Il.; and eight grandchildren.
