One month after deadlocking on a vote to approve a resolution to borrow $852,000
for a wastewater treatment facility upgrade, the Gilman Village Board voted 7-0
to approve the resolution at its regular meeting June 11.
Julie Giese of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development
agency told the board passing the resolution still does not bind the village to
take out the 40-year loan. Giese answered one of the main questions from the
last meeting - namely the impact of any additional grant money on a $350,000
grant from Rural Development toward the project.
She said the grant is based on the loan, so if the community receives a STG
grant, it would cut into the amount of the Rural Development grant.
