Baker, Gertrude (30 OCT 1885 – 11 DEC 1971)
At 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, December 14, 1971, funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude
Baker, 86, were conducted from the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Withee (Clark
Co., Wis.). The Rev. Elmer Rasmussen was in charge of the final rites, and
burial was made in the cemetery in the Town of Maplehurst.
Six grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers.
She passed away December 11, 1971 at the Bethel Convalescent Nursing Home at
Arpin, where she had been a resident for the past five years, with death being
attributed to complications of old age.
She was born October 30, 1885 in Nebraska, and on January 1, 1903, she was
united in marriage to Edward Baker in a ceremony performed in Stevens Point. The
couple lived in Stevens Point for many years, and also made their home in Park
Falls, Appleton and the Town of Maplehurst, Taylor County.
Her passed is mourned by three brothers, Malen Hamel, Arpin; Courtland Hamel,
rural Withee, and Royale Hamel, rural Owen; a sister, Mrs. Phil (Bernice)
Fentistine, Long Beach, California; two sons, Roscoe Baker, Rockford, Illinois,
and Robert Baker, Moline, Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (LaVonne) Nelson,
Arpin; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren, and 3
great-great-grandchildren.
