Blomberg, Myrtle Adell (Nelson) (15 JUN 1924 - 2 JUL 2018)
Myrtle Adell Blomberg, 94, of Ogema, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018, at
Medford Aspirus Care and Rehab under palliative surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7 at the First Baptist
Church in Ogema with Pastor Rodney Price officiating. Interment was in the
Garden of Memories Cemetery in the Town of Hill. Friends called at the church on
Friday, July 6 from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the
service.
Myrtle was born on June 15, 1924, in Ogema to Herman and Ebba Nelson. She
attended elementary school at Ring School in the town of Hill and was a 1942
graduate of the Prentice High School. Following graduation, she worked as a
nanny in Winnetka, Ill., did secretarial work at an insurance company in
Chicago, Ill. and then returned to Wisconsin and resided in Tomahawk, where she
worked as a secretary at the Bradley Bank.
She married John Blomberg on Jan. 29, 1946 in Ashland. She served as a
deaconess, Sunday school teacher, a member of the willing workers and the BCW at
the Ogema Baptist Church. She took great pleasure in listening to kids recite
Bible verses at Kingdom Quest. She served in various roles at vacation bible
school. She was known for her hospitality and specialized in homemade sweet
rolls, meatballs, apple pie and various breads. She enjoyed letter writing to
friends and family. In her free time she enjoyed quilting, feeding birds and
travel.
Myrtle is survived by her sons, Richard (Karen), David (Bonnie), Arnold (Janet),
all of Ogema and Donald (Nancy) of Cheyenne, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren 36
great-grandchildren; and by one brother, Floyd Nelson of Ogema.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; one son, Dale;
and two sisters, Pearl Olson and Rosella Bottleson.
