Hass, Sara “Nan” N. (Wyman) (1 OCT 1927 - 29 JUN 2018)
Sara “Nan” N. Hass, 90, Chippewa Falls, died Friday, June 29, 2018, at Chippewa
Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Sara was born Oct. 1, 1927, in New London, to Enid “Lenore” (Shreeves) and
Wellington W. Wyman. She grew up in New London, but moved to Eau Claire as a
teen, and graduated from Eau Claire High School, class of 1945. After
graduation, Nan moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the department of the
Navy.
She married Harold W. Hass April 6, 1947. They lived and raised their family in
Chippewa Falls, where Nan worked as a clerk at the Chippewa’s Woolen Shop and as
a bookkeeper for Falls Bait Co., Inc. Over the course of her life, Nan was
involved in several activities outside her home, including den mother when her
sons were in Cub Scouts, PTA member, volunteer in the administration office at
Central Lutheran Church and as an American Legion Auxiliary member.
She was an excellent seamstress and taught 4-H sewing classes. She also liked to
knit, crochet, oil paint, refinish furniture, read and work crossword puzzles
(in ink). There was always music in the house, she loved to sing. Often times,
something said by someone would bring on a song from Mom. The greatest joy in
her life came when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came into her life.
They all loved to go to “Gramma’s house” and seldom liked to leave. She was
caring and nurturing, and a wonderful teacher.
Nan has resided at Chippewa Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation for the past four
years. She always put a smile on the faces of the CNAs and nurses with her keen
sense of humor. She gave most of them nicknames to help her remember who they
were.
Over the 11 plus years of dialysis, she’d become “The Princess” to the techs (in
a good way). She will be greatly missed by those in the healthcare profession.
She is survived by a son – Jan Hass, Webster, S.D.; a daughter – Ellen (Mark)
Nodolf, Cornell; a brother – Ted Wyman, Bella Vista, Ariz.; and many
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers– Richard and Addison
Wyman; a sister-in-law – Sandra Wyman; a daughter-in-law – Judy Hass; a son –
William Hass, Sept. 24, 1993; and her husband – Harold, March 20, 2013.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, at the Northern
Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
Nan has asked that memorials in her honor go to St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital. The donation options are listed on their website at www.stjude.org.
The family wishes to thank all those involved with providing healthcare,
transportation, administrative and pastoral services during her final years of
life. You made those years enjoyable for her.
Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls is serving the family.
