Stowe, Mildred Ruth (1 JAN 1972)
Mildred Ruth Stowe and Edgar William Ray were married at 7:30 p.m. January 1,
1972 in Asheville Free Methodist Church. The Rev. Lyle D. Ward conducted the
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stowe of Asheville, N.C. Mr.
Ray's Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ray Sr. of Asheville.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin gown with pearled
and re-embroidered nylon scalloped Alencon lace forming the front panel of the
Empire gown. Her chapel train was trimmed with matching lace and her veil of
illusion was attached to a Camelot headpiece. Miss Bridal Gail Ray, sister of
the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore an Empire gown of light jade green
with dark velvet jacket embroidered with orange and yellow flowers. She carried
yellow mums.
Bridesmaid were Miss Sandra Ray, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Deborah
Carver and Mrs. Barbara Wallen of Candler, N.C. They wore green Empire gowns and
carried yellow mums.
Frank Melton of Oteen, N.C., was best man.
Ushers were David McEllrath, Jess Taylor and Randy Herron.
A reception followed.
The bride is a 1966 graduate of Enka High School and is employed by Farnam
Manufacturing Co.
The groom graduated from Clyde Erwin High School and is employed at Groce
Funeral Home.
The couple is living in Candler, N.C.
