Tom Allen, owner of the Allen's Store, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), announced this
week that the sale of his business to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bonk, City, was
finalized last week.
The Bonk's are comparatively new in the clothing business, although she has had
considerable clerking experience and has been an employee of Hughes Department
Store the past couple of years.
The firm was founded here May 25, 1947 by Tom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Allen, now retired and living at Phillips. Tom acquired the business from his
parents in July of 1964.
In announcing the sale Mr. Allen also disclosed that his plans for the future
call for the family moving to Eau Claire, where he will open an ABC Kiddie's
Clothing Store in the new London Square Mall. He said, "I don't expect to open
the store until mid-July or early August, but will be ready for 'back to school
specials'." The Tot and Teen outlet will feature clothing for youngsters up to
12 years of age.
