Kapyla, Vera M. (27 JAN 1891 – 19 MAR 1972)

At 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 1972, funeral services for Mrs. Vera Marie Kapyla, 81, were conducted from Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen. Mrs. Kapyla died at her home in Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) on Sunday, March 19, 1972.

The Rev. A. Puotinen of Ironwood, Michigan officiated and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wm. Kangas, Sam Munson, Toivo Kangas, Allen Niemi, Elwyn Kile, and Voitto Mutka.

The former Vera Marie Luthala was born January 27, 1891 in Finland, and came to the United States in 1913. She came to Withee in 1916 and was married in Owen on September 3, 1916, to John Kapyla, who preceded her in death on January 9, 1943. The couple farmed in the Town of Withee until 1944, when she moved into the village of Withee.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Zielanis, Withee; and Mrs. Tom (Ellen) Cicoria, Chippewa Falls; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
