Heikkinen, Ronald William (26 SEP 1942 - 10 JUL 2018)
Ronald William Heikkinen, 75, Brantwood, Town of Knox, died at his home on
Tuesday, July10, while under the care of his family and Flambeau Home Health and
Hospice.
He was born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, on September 26, 1942, the son of Paul and
Sylvia (Lampi) Heikkinen. He was a 1960 graduate of the Tripoli High School. He
was married to Beverly Pokela on May 21, 1960, in the Zion Lutheran Church in
Brantwood.
He worked as a logger for much of his working life, operating Ron Heikkinen
Forest Products, but was also employed by Tomahawk Sand and Gravel for 15 years
as the Black Top Foreman. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the
Tripoli-Brantwood Lions Club, the Tomahawk Sand and Gravel Soft Ball Team, the
Brantwood Softball Team, and of the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association. He
served as Chairman of the Town of Knox, served as a Price County Supervisor, as
a member of the Zion Lutheran Church Council, and served as coach of the Tripoli
Tigers Little League. In his free time he enjoyed bear hunting, golf, bow and
rifle hunting, and making maple syrup. He loved to polka with his wife, Bev.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; by three sons, Scott (Jenny), Naperville,
IL, Mark (Kim), Las Vegas, NV, and Craig (Julie), Racine, WI; by five
grandchildren, Samantha, Christopher (Lauren), Alexa, Casey, and Jonathan; and
by five brothers, Paul (Pat), Tomahawk, Bill (Judy), Tomahawk, Peter (Cindy),
Prentice, Gene (Cathy), Tomahawk, and Dan (Deb), Brantwood. He is preceded in
death by one sister, Carol Ann Steinbach, and by one infant brother.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 14, at the Zion
Lutheran Church in Brantwood with Pastor Robert Giese and Pastor Quinlan Koch
concelebrating services. Friends may call at the Church on Saturday from 11:30
A.M. until the time of services.
The family suggests that memorials take the form of an offering to Zion Lutheran
Church, Brantwood, or Flambeau Home Health and Hospice, Phillips
