Blake, David Lee (1935? - 20 JUL 2018)
David Lee Blake, 83, of Tavares, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2018
after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Dave was born and raised in Exeland. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and no
one loved the Cubs more than he. He was quite the story teller and LOVED to
talk; anyone who knew him would agree it was hard to get a word in edgewise!
Dave, “The Maverick,” was best known for his musical prowess, delighting many
throughout the years with his guitar, fiddle and song.
Dave is survived by Janis Oglesbee, his partner of 34 years; four daughters,
Peggy Blake-Vogt (Steven), Dawn Hartung, Tina Schultz (Steve) and Ratie Besser;
six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Christian memorial service was held June 30 at Ephipany Celebration Anglican
Church in Eustis, Fla., where Dave and Janis attended regularly.
An informal service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Exeland
Rod and Gun Club pavilion, followed by a luncheon and celebration of Dave’s
life.
