The Rev. A.F. Hellert of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, performed the double
ring ceremony on Saturday, July 22, 1972, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, which
united Miss Teresa Rohland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Rohland of rural
Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and Gerald Rakovec, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Rakovec
of rural Greenwood (Clark Co.). The bride's father escorted her to the altar,
which was adorned with floral arrangements of white gladiolas and mums.
Soloist was Richard Steiner, accompanied by Miss Amber Nirva at the organ.
The bride's gown was floor length lace and white sheer trimmed with satin ribbon
around the shoulder and under the bodice. Her three-tier floor length trailing
veil was connected to a small cap made of lace. The gown was fashioned with long
full sleeves with large cuffs. She carried a large round bouquet of summer mixed
flowers and red roses with baby's breath.
Mrs. Ralph Fetting, sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and bridesmaids
were Miss Carol Kaz, Marshfield, Miss Diane Ciomber, Milwaukee, Miss Elaine
Rohland and Miss Patty Rohland of Withee. Their floor length gowns of white
sheer with multi-colored flowers set in were empire styled with long full
sleeves and large cuffs. The bridesmaids dresses were under laid in different
colors of pink, lilac, blue, yellow and green, and they wore large white hats
with ribbons. They carried baskets of summer daisies with mums tipped to match
each girl's gown.
Serving as best man was Ralph Fetting of Spencer, and groomsmen were Michael
Rakovec, Greenwood, Terry Rohland, Withee, Edward Kollmansberger of Loyal, and
Edward Smrecek of Marshfield. Ushering were Mike Rohland, Melvin Rohland Gene
Rakovec, and Cyril Rakovec Jr.
Following the wedding a reception was held in the church hall, with a dance and
reception that evening at the American Legion Hall in Owen.
Following a wedding trip to Canada and the western states, the newlyweds will
make their home in Greenwood.
The bride is a 1971 graduate of the Owen-Withee High School and is employed at
ITT Midwestern of Thorp. The groom is a 1969 graduate of Greenwood High School
