Berdal, Barry E. (28 SEP 1948 – AUG 2018)
Barry was born on September 28, 1948, in Stanley, WI to Edward and June
(Johnson) Berdal. He grew up on the family farm east of Thorp.
Barry graduated from Thorp High School in 1966 and attended Northcentral
Technical College in Wausau, WI. He worked for Thorp Finance in Thorp for four
years and was later employed by several Wisconsin banks over 32 years as a loan
officer and vice-president. Barry owned a busy
appraisal business for the past 16 years.
Barry was wed to his high school' sweetheart, Merry, for 49 wonderful years.
Barry was a community leader and led a life of special value, interests and
achievements. He was a member of the Lions Club for 34 years, and was recently
presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship award for dedicated humanitarian
service. Barry had a kind and generous heart. In addition to raising their two
beautiful daughters, he and Merry opened their home to 17 foster children and
exchange students. Barry greatly loved his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Barry also loved the outdoors. If he wasn't hunting turkey
or deer, he was trap shooting. As a teenager, Barry played the bass guitar and
sang with the Attila and the Huns who have a record in the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame.
The joy that Barry brought will be dearly missed by Merry: his two daughters:
Natasha (Greg) Johnson, Gretchen Calabria: three grandchildren: Scout, Trey, and
Justice; and four great-grandchildren: Harlow. Oliver, Sullivan and Lainey.
Barry will also be missed by his sister, Kitty Kenny; his brothers: Randy
(Judy), Roddy (Donna), and Dennis (Pam); and many nieces, nephews, relatives and
friends.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Barry during his illness.
A memorial service for Barry will be held 1-riday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. at
Crosswalk Community Church, 505 Old County Road W, Frederic, WI 54837. Barry's
family will greet visitors beginning at 10 a.m. Please join the family for lunch
and continued fellowship at the church following the service. Cremation Society
of Wisconsin, Altoona is serving the family.
