Thorson, Harry (11 JUN 1900 – 14 SEP 1972)

Harry Thorson, retired Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) businessman and a pioneer resident of the Longwood and Withee area, passed away at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, September 14, 1972, at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield, where he had been a patient for three days since suffering a heart attack in his home in Owen (Clark Co.). He was visiting with his brother Edward, who was here visiting relatives from his home in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Funeral services were conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, September 16, with Rev. Robert Olson of Thorp being in charge of the final rites. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Brian Thorson, Jack Jalling, David Thorson, Terry Thorson, Kenny Thorson, and Dennis Christophersen.

He was born in Wisconsin on June 11, 1899, and as a youngster grew up on a farm in the Town of Longwood (Clark Co.) and attended the Longwood State Graded School. He moved to Withee in 1923 and operated a grocery store in that village for 40 years. He retired in 1962 and has lived in Owen the past several years.

Harry's passing is mourned by a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Maxine) Christophersen, Thorp; a son, Marvin, Circle Pines, Minnesota; five brothers, Roy Thorson, Butler, Wisconsin; Orville, Thorson, Annandale, Minnesota; Edward Thorson, Bloomington, Minnesota; Al Thorson Jr., Fond du Lac, and Gordon Thorson of Owen; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a host of friends whom he acquired over the years with his humor and pleasant personality. He was an avid fisherman.
