Awe, Herman J. (20 SEP 1889 – 25 OCT 1972)
Funeral services were held at 1:30 Saturday, October 28, 1972 at the Hoeper and
Kraut Funeral Home for Herman J. Awe, 83, of route 1, Greenwood (Clark Co.,
Wis.), who died Wednesday, October 25, 1972, at St. Joseph's Hospital,
Marshfield.
The Rev. Lester Kringle, pastor of the Alliance Church, Owen, officiated, and
burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Roger Domer, Gordon Domer, Rueben Schulte, Norman
Behringer, Walter Fink and Werner Dahl.
Mr. Awe was born September 20, 1889 in the town of Green Grove, Clark County,
and received his education at the Green Grove School. He was married at
Neillsville June 20, 1922 to Lenora Holverson, who died in March of 1959.
In 1969 he was married again, to Betty Kolby, in Minnesota. He spent most of his
life as a farmer in the twon of Green Grove, until 1953 when he retired.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George (Bonnie)
Drake, Milwaukee; Mrs. Orlando (Judy) Ackerman of rural Owen; 10 grandchildren;
a brother, John Awe of rural Withee; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Domer, Eau Claire,
and Mrs. Hilda Boehnlien of New Holstein.
Four sisters also preceded him in death.
