Flood, Richard George (15 August 1924 – 7 June 2018)
Richard George Flood, 93, of Altoona, formerly of Black River Falls, died
Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls.
Richard was born August 15, 1924 in Black River Falls to Loyal and Mildred
(Staley) Flood. He graduated from Black River Falls High School and attended
Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. During World War II, Richard served in
the U.S. Army in Japan and the South Pacific.
Richard married Marilyn Black. He later married Bonnie Basham on August 7, 1968
in Kenosha.
Richard worked as an electrician at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Great
Lakes, IL for 21 years. He then owned and operated Flood’s Construction Co. in
Kenosha until 1966 when he retired. In his retirement he operated Trail’s End
Bed and Breakfast in Chetek.
Richard is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two sons, Sir Richard Flood of Black
River Falls and Sherwin (Dawn) Flood of Merrillan; four daughters, Sharon Fox of
Merrillan, Sharla (Jim) Schneider of Springtown, TX, Sandi (Doyle) Carver of
Houston, TX and Sherry (Geoff) Petrulis of Mansfield, TX; one stepson, Richard
Basham of Baraboo; two stepdaughters, Sharon (Jerry) Ruffalo of Oxford and Karen
(David) Tuschen of Columbus; one brother, Robert (Ellen) Flood of California;
one sister, Ramona Vlahovic of California; 24 grandchildren, 35 great
grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Sarita; four grandchildren:
Michael Jr., Rueben, Eddie and Lola; two brothers, Raymond and Roland.
Funeral services for Richard will be 12:00 noon, Monday, June 11, 2018 at Family
Worship Assembly Church in Black River Falls with Pastor John Cowles
officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in
Merrillan.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Monday.
Buswell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
