Offord, Jesse H. (13 JUL 1895 – 20 December 1972)
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, December 23, 1972 at
the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home in Owen for Jesse Henry Offord, 77, route 1,
Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who died Wednesday, December 20, 1972 at Victory
Memorial Hospital in Stanley.
The Rev. Kurt Sampson, pastor of the United Church of Christ, Owen, officiated,
and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Leonard Vetterkind, Glen Vetterkind, Lynn
Vetterkind, Raymond Vetterkind, Walter Baehr, and Fred Baehr.
Mr. Offord was born July 13, 1895 near Marshall, and received his education in
Dane County, Rice Lake, and Greenwood area schools. He came to the Withee area
in 1920, and October 31, 1922, he was married at Withee to the former Selma
Thiel, who survives him. He farmed in the town of Reseburg most of his life, and
retired in 1965.
Other survivors include a son, Arles, route 1, Withee; a daughter, Mrs. Donald
(Yvonne) Pitts, also of route 1, Withee; twelve grandchildren and a
great-granddaughter.
Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
