Sharon Cook of Unity was among the more than 500 high school girls taking part in the 26th session of Badger Girls State June 14 – 21, 1969 on the University of Wisconsin campus at Madison.

The girls, who will be senior in the fall, were selected by school officials on the basis of leadership, scholarship and Character.

During the week the girls held mock elections, organized city, county and state governments, conducted campaigns and attended lectures on various phases of government. They also conducted a legislative session, where they enacted laws. These were then sent to the governor and other executive officials.

The program is co-sponsored by the Wisconsin American Legion auxiliary and the University Extension Institute of Government Affairs.

Miss Cook is the daughter of Calvin Cook of Unity.
