Bell, Mabel L. (23 March 1911 – 2 April 1975)

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Mrs. Mabel L. Bell, 64, of rt. 3 Neillsville, who died April 2 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Mn., where she had undergone heart surgery. The Rev. Harold Palmer officiated, and interment followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mabel Bell, daughter of Albert and Maude (Walton) Kautenberg, was born March 23, 1911, at Waukegan, Il., and was educated in Illinois schools. She worked in Hyland Park, Il., for several years.

Her marriage to Kermit W. Bell took place January 19, 1946, at Wheaton, Il. Following their marriage, the couple farmed at Antigo until 1953 when they moved to Neillsville. Mr. Bell preceded his wife in death on October 11, 1973.

Mrs. Bell had been employed as a surgical aid at Neillsville Memorial Hospital since the hospital opened. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Greenwood.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Maud Klauffman of Waukegan, Il.; two children: Mrs. Jerry (Loudell) Smith of Waukegan, Il., and Bob Bell of Neillsville; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Richard Schleifer, Chester Turville, Erwin Toburen, Kuester, Ed Holub and Bert Schultz.

“In the Garden” and “My Savior Cares” were sung by Mrs. LeRoy Gross and Mrs. Earl Richardson. Mrs. Richardson was the organist.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mc Donald, Taylor; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Klenke, Appleton; Mrs. Kay Herried, New London; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kurz and daughter, Spencer; Petra and Helene Kalsow, Mrs. George Koerner and Miss Louise Scheel, St. Paul, Mn.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Weisshahn, Mrs. Elmer Frick and Mrs. Edwin Schraml, Antigo, Nancy Seif, Berlin; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Schmidt, Alma.

Many friends from the Neillsville and Greenwood area were also in attendance.
