Struensee, Dennis Gene (24 February 1946 – 2 April 1975)


Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home for Dennis Gene Struensee, 29, of Neillsville. He was dead on arrival at Milwaukee County General Hospital after the semi-trailer he was driving crashed into pillars of the Highway 100 overpass to Highway 15 in Greenfield Wednesday, April 2. Roads in that area were reported slippery from new-fallen snow.

The William Noble of the United Methodist Church officiated at services, and burial followed in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Son of Edward Struensee of Rt. 1 Neillsville, and the late Irene (Metcalf) Struensee, Dennis was born February 24, 1946, in Neillsville and was educated in local schools, graduating from Neillsville High School. After attending radio broadcasting schools in Minneapolis, Mn., and in Dallas, Tx., he worked for radio stations in Texas, Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan. Mr. Struensee had been employed by North American Van Lines for the past two years.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include two brothers: Calvin Struensee of Dallas, Tx., and Harry Struensee of Farmington, Mn.

Pallbearers were: Randy Rennack, Robert Struensee, Richard Struensee, Darrell Struensee, Jack Counsell and Lloyd Meyer.

Kendall Smith sang “Just a Closer Walk With Thee” and “Softly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling.”
Mrs. Elaine Smith was the accompanist.

Those from out of town who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Struensee of Farmington, Mn., and Mrs. Blanche Lebeck of Chicago, Il.
