Oelrich, Edna A. (27 FEB 1926 – 15 AUG 2018)
Spencer - Edna A Oelrich, age 92, of Spencer, passed away on Wednesday August
15, 2018 at Colby Retirement Community in Colby.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday August 25, 2018 at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Spencer with Rev. Jeffrey Lambrecht officiating. Burial will
take place in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman. Family and friends
are invited to gather on Saturday at the church from 9 AM until time of
services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to her nephews: Clifford Johnson,
Steve Macheichok, Daniel Oelrich, Melvin Oelrich, Gene Oelrich, and Jim
Schoolman.
Edna was born on February 27, 1926 to Fred and Emma (Kaulfuerst) Oelrich in
Spencer. She attended Spencer Public School. She was employed by the Spencer
Public School System as a cook providing delicious hot meals for hundreds of
students until her retirement in 1993. Edna had also tirelessly taken care of
her aging parents for many years.
In her younger days, she loved picking blueberries in the Spencer Marsh. She
enjoyed feeding the wild birds and gardening and working with her flowers. She
was a great cook, well known for her apple pie, donuts, raisin bread and always
having the cookie jar full. She also liked to embroider and crochet. Edna was
also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. She helped serve at
funerals and volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Store in Wausau.
Edna is survived by her siblings: Albert (Frances) Oelrich of Spencer; Arthur (Georgianna)
Oelrich of Unity; Alice Johnson of Missoula, MT; Frieda Oelrich of Spencer along
with many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Raymond, Roy, Herbert,
Willard, and Joseph and her sisters: Esther (Schoolman) and Beatrice (Macheichok).
She also had two brothers who died in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Colby Retirement Center for their
excellent care of Edna.
