Potts, Alma (102nd Birthday - 1985)

Mrs. Alma Potts of Greenwood was honored Thursday afternoon and evening, March 28, when relatives and friends came to help her celebrate her 102 birthday.

The celebration was held at the home of her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Frances (Madeline) Clintsman, 308 Crocker Avenue, where Mrs. Potts has made her home for the past 17 years. Mrs. Potts was born March 28, 1883, in Toma County, Iowa. She was married to Hurdette Potts in 1905. The couple farmed 2 miles north of Christie and later lived in Neillsville until the death of her husband in 1968. Since then she has resided with the Clintsmans in Greenwood.

Among the guests were her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LaRue Potts of Neillsville. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thompson of Curtiss, Mrs. Luella Clintsman and Nellie Sharp.

Roehl, Rhonda Renee (Engagement - 1985)

Summer wedding bells will ring for Rhonda Renee Roehl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Roehl of Neillsville and Thomas Ray Schoolman of Marshfield. Rhonda is a 1983 graduate of Neillsville High School and a 1984 graduate of Mid-State Tech in Marshfield. Thomas served three years in the United States Army; and is currently in the Neillsville National Guard and works in Marshfield.

Sternitzky, Mark (Boy’s State - 1985)

Mark Sternitzky, junior at Granton High Schol, has been selected as this year’s representative to Badger Boys State. Mark is the son of Mrs. Mary Sternitzky of Granton and Gerald Sternitzky of Milladore. Alternate this year is Doug Betz, son of Ann Betz of Route 2 Granton.

Mark was selected for his outstanding qualifications in leadership, courage, honor, loyalty, and service to the school. Mark has competed in wrestling, band, and dramatics.

This year Badger Boys State will be held at Ripon College the week of June 15-Jujne 22. Over 1,000 young men statewide will take part in this year’s program. Mark is sponsored by the Granton Rotary.
