Star News news editor Brian Wilson was recognized for outstanding editorial
writing during the annual conference of the International Society of Weekly
Newspaper Editors (ISWNE).
Wilson was recognized as one of the “Golden Dozen” winners which include the 12
best editorials a picked by this year’s judge, Jackie Risley. Risley is a media
professional based in California and has extensive experience in journalism as
well as teaching writing at the high school and college levels.
This is the fifth time Wilson has been recognized with a Golden Dozen Award. He
was previously recognized in 2008, 2009, 2013 and 2015.
Wilson’s editorial, “Wisconsin needs to let a bad law die,” appeared in the May
25, 2017 issue of The Star News. It called on the state to let the “Unborn Child
Protection Act” die rather than continue to fight a costly court battle to keep
it in place.
