Packing of the 1943 crop of peas at the Medford plant of the Oconomowoc Canning
Company was completed yesterday.
The Medford plant might possibly be re-opened for the acres yet to ripen but
Manager Emil Weix states that probably these last peas will be canned at the
Stratford plant.
The ninety thousand cases packed here is considered a very fair showing
considering the exceptionally heavy rainfall early in the season. A total of 18
inches of rain during the early growing season cause quite a few fields to be
replanted and damage some other field. Some of the peas were not good enough for
harvesting but most of the field harvested supplied about a normal crop.
