Bandli, Esther Arlene (Toft) (16 AUG 1935 - 26 AUG 2018)

Esther Arlene Bandli, age 83, of Rice Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Esther was born on April 16, 1935, in Cumberland, to Emil and Emma (Just) Toft. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1953 and then attended and graduated from Northwestern Hospital as a registered nurse in 1956. She was married on Sept. 22, 1956 at Section Ten Lutheran Church in Cumberland to James Bandli.

She was a registered nurse at Lakeside Hospital in Rice Lake and for Dr. Maser, Dr. Cotts and Dr. Kristensen offices in Rice Lake. They dairy farmed in Sumner Township for many years. She was the town clerk for 22 years and was a 4-H Leader for 30 years. Esther was a member of the Halvorson Ladies Aide and an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking and baking.

Esther is survived by her husband, Jim Bandli of Rice Lake; her children, Tim (Linda) Bandli of Tony, David Bandli of Rice Lake, Pete (Candy) Bandli of Rice Lake and Mike (Jill) Bandli of Sun Prairie; eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Steven) McMahon, John Bandli, Rachel Bandli, Billy (Anne) Bandli, Ben Bandli, Alex Bandli, Elsbeth Bandli and Brooke Bandli; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Leo McMahon; her brothers, Paul (Shirley) Toft and Edward Toft of Rice Lake and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah; her parents, Emil and Emma Toft and her sister, Ardys Toft.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, at First United Methodist Church in Rice Lake with Rev. Susan Oeffler officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Appleyard’s Home for Funerals is assisting with the arrangements.
