Monson, Dorothy May (Manglos) (8 MAY 1931 - 20 AUG 2018)
Dorothy May Monson, 87, of Sheldon, passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018 at
Ladysmith Care and Rehab Center under the care of Hope Hospice.
Dorothy was born on May 8, 1931 in the town of Woodland, Sauk County, to Fred
and Lois (Urban) Manglos. She graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1949. She
later worked at the battery factory located in Wonewoc.
On Nov. 8, 1958 Dorothy married Harold “Bud” Monson. Together they farmed in
Jump River. Dorothy was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Jump River. She
spent many years as a Sunday school teacher. Dorothy was also a member of the
Smith Settlement Ladies Aid and a missionary aid of Jump River.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Harold; four children, Teresa (Scott) Day,
Dennis (Eileen) Monson and Lawrence (Carol) Monson, all of Jump River, and
Ronald (Kara) Monson of Alameda, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Nathan,
Amanda, Chelsea, Samantha, Stephanie, Cayce and Katelynn; seven
great-grandchildren, Connor, Cora, Brycen, Aurora-Jean, Logan, Maya and Naomi.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Roy, Duane and Orval
Manglos.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24 at Jump River Community
Center with Rev. Joey Olsen officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on
Thursday at Gilman Funeral Home and Friday morning one hour prior to services at
the Community Center.
Burial will follow in Mount Nebo Cemetery.
