Enrollment is up at both the Medford Area Middle and High Schools on the first
day of school compared to the first day of school last year - for the ninth year
in a row.
The total first day enrollment for this year is 2,485 students compared to 2,472
on the first day of school last year.
According to District Administrator Paul Schoenberger, if these numbers holdup
until the state count on the third Friday in September, Medford Area Public
School District could be experiencing close to a 2.7 percent increase in
enrollment over last year.
However, the district typically loses 30-40 students between the start of school
and the official state count date on September 17, as student move out of the
district.
If this occurs again this year, the actual increase will be account 1.5 percent.
