Benzschawel, Catherine Ann (5 JUN 1971)

Miss Catherine Ann Benzschawel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Benzschawel, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis..), became the bride of David R. Baus, son of Dr. and Mrs. V.A. Baus, Kiel, Wisconsin, on Saturday, June 5, 1971 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Thorp, Wisconsin. Reverend Francis Brockman officiated at the 1:30 double ring ceremony.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents, chose a floor length gown of silk organza with motifs of Venice Lace appliqued on the empire bodice and on the Bishop sleeves. The A-line skirt was highlighted by a detachable train sweeping to chapel length, with Venice lace appliques. Her fingertip veil was accented by a Camelot bonnet of jeweled Venice lace with a front bow of organza.

Her bouquet was an arrangement of white cymbidiums and white daisies with a sprig of ivy.

Attending the bride were: Mrs. Karen Hadzima of Chicago, friend of the bride, as her matron of honor; Miss Pat Klinkner of Milwaukee, and Miss Paulette Bohmier of Madison, friends of the bride, were bridesmaids. Miss Loi Baus of Kiel, sister of the groom, was a junior bridesmaid, and Miss Jodi Soeller of Stanley, cousin of the bride, was a miniature bride.

The bridesmaids chose floor length gowns of a daisy floral Dacron over taffeta. Pleated ruching outline the high neckline and the long full sleeves. A petite bow accented the high rise waistline over a slightly gathered A-line skirt. They wore white horse hair picture brim hats with yellow ribbons and carried olive baskets of yellow and white daisies.

The miniature bride wore a nylon sheer floor length gown with a full skirt, high neckline, and bishop sleeves. Her bouquet was a miniature of the bride's.

The groom's best man was his twin brother, Dennis, of Milwaukee, and his groomsmen were Joe Benzschawel of Thorp, brother of the bride, Mike Bebermier of Kiel, Wisconsin, friend of the groom, and Mike Baus of Kiel, Wisconsin, brother of the groom. Timmy Baus of Green Bay, godson of the groom, was the ring bearer.

John Benzschawel of Thorp and Ray Benzschawel of Thorp, and Church Baus of Kiel were the ushers.

A reception was held following the ceremony at the American Legion Hall, Thorp, where a sit down dinner was served to approximately 130 guests. An old fashioned wedding dance was held in the evening, ,with music furnished by Jerry Wiles and his band.

The bride is a graduate of Thorp high school, and is present employed as an auditor at the Heritage Bank of Milwaukee.

The groom is a 1965 graduate of Kiel High School, and a 1969 graduate of Marquette University, and is present employed as an assistant cashier at the Continental Bank and Trust Co. in Milwaukee.

After returning from their honeymoon to Mackinac Island and Sault Saint Marie, the new Mr. and Mrs. Baus will make their home at 944 North 25th Street, Milwaukee.
