Feranec, John Edward (15 APR 1956 - 17 SEP 2018)

John Edward Feranec, 62, passed away at his home on Monday, September 17, 2018.

He was born in Phillips on April 15, 1956, the son of Andrew and Irene Feranec. He was baptized and confirmed at Saint John Lutheran Church in Phillips. He was a 1974 graduate of Phillips High School and a graduate of Northcentral Technical College-Wausau, where he earned an Associates Degree in machine tool.

He married Mary Trzecinski in August 1984 and to this union, three children were born. They later divorced. John proudly served as a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard from December 1973 to December 1985. A dedicated worker, he worked at Humphrey Chevrolet in Milwaukee, Firestone Service Center, and other various machine shops as a machinist, at Phillips Plastics from 1978-2004, and most recently as a tool and die maker at Northern Wire in Merrill.

Anyone who knew John knew his lifelong career and true passion was in farming. Allis Chalmers are like chips, you can’t just have one. The same goes for Chevrolets. He took true pride in both of these, his favorites being the Allis Chalmers D17 series IV and 1972 Chevy K20. In addition to farming, his other hobbies included snowmobiling, ATVing, and diecast replica collecting, but most of all, his favorite was spending time with his children while enjoying the family land, playing cards, and exchanging smiles with his new granddaughter. Many who knew him considered him a good man, and he was a caring, loving, and proud father. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his daughter Cala (Tim Neu), Phillips; two sons Tyler (Bethany Geske), Eau Claire, and Sawyer, Eau Claire; and by one granddaughter, Gabriella. He is further survived by sisters Gloria (George) Kiefer, Patricia (Roger) Watral, Carol Gunderson, brother Jeff Feranec, and many loving nieces and nephews as well as other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Irene Feranec, brother Mickey, sisters Judy, Sandee, and Kathy.

Please join us to celebrate John’s life on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Heindl Funeral Home located in Phillips, WI, with Pastor Glenn Sokolowski officiating.
