Schwenke, Arthur A. (13 DEC 1890 – 25 SEP 1971)
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in
Withee, for Arthur A. Schwenke, 80, of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), who died at 11:58
p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Hospital.
The Reverend Arthur Hellert, pastor, officiated, and burial was made in
Riverside Cemetery at Withee.
Mr. Schwenke was born December 13, 1890 in the Town of Larabee, Waupaca Co.,
Wisconsin, and attended school in Pella and four years at Wittenberg Academy,
Wittenberg. He was married June 19, 1913 in Wittenberg to Ida Hanke, who
survives him. The couple went to the Owen area in 1913 and had resided there
since that time. He had been employed as a railway postal clerk for 40 years.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.D. (Pearl)
Rittenhouse, Owen; a grandson; a sister, Mrs. Lily Schmiedeke, Clintonville; and
several nieces and nephews.
