Lis, Susan K. (25 SEP 1971)
A beautiful wedding was solemnized at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church,
Gilman, Saturday, September 25, 1971, at 12:30 p.m., as Miss Susan K. Lis and
James H. Schley repeated their wedding vows. Fr. Alphonse Zoltowski officiated
at the double ring ceremony.
Parent of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lis and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lis and
Mr. and Mrs. Orre Schley.
Baskets of red gladiolas, blue mums and white carnations decorated the altar.
The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, wore a dress featuring a satin
bodice and chiffon skirt, which flowed to a chapel train. Venice lace and pearls
detailed the standup collar and wife ruff. The natural waistline was accented by
a satin piping and bow in back. Her veil was held by an arrangement of bows and
Venice lace. Her bouquet was white carnations and red roses.
Matron of honor for her sister was Mrs. Roger Thompson, and the bridesmaids were
Miss Gloria Schley, Miss Lynette Lis, and Miss Linda Hudak. They wore identical
dresses of navy blue, and white print styled with an empire waist and gather
skirt. Red velvet ribbon complemented a ruffled collar and waistline. Red
buttons detailed the wide cuff on bishop sleeves. A red ribbon cluster in their
hat completed their outfit. Their flowers were a colonial bouquet of red and
white carnations.
Donald Schley was best man for his brother. Roger Thompson, Richard Schley, and
Greg Schley were the groomsmen. Dean Lis was the ring bearer.
The bride’s mother chose a rust knit dress with rust and beige accessories, and
the groom’s mother wore a gold knit dress with brown accessories. Each had a
corsage of roses and carnations to complement their attire.
A reception was held following the ceremony at Koolmo’s Ballroom, with
approximately 300 guests in attendance. Miss Janet Lis and Sandra Schley had
charge of the guest book. The wedding cake, which graced the head table, was
made by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Robert Cox.
Guests were present from Wausau, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Clintonville, Bloomer,
Rhinelander, Waukesha, Cary, Illinois, and the surrounding area.
Following a week’s trip thru southern states, the new Mr. and Mrs. Schley will
be at home in Menomonie. Both are Gilman High School graduates. The bride is a
LPN at Luther Hospital, and the groom is employed in Menomonie.
