Balciar, Walter John (29 JAN 1922 - 22 SEP 2018)

Walter John Balciar, 96, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Sept. 22, 2018. A visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9:30-11 a.m. with a memorial service immediately following at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford.

Walter was born to the union of John and Adella Balciar on Jan. 29, 1922. He received his education in Medford. Walter married Margaret Robida on Sept. 6, 1947 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford. He worked and helped on the family farm and joined the Civilian Conservation Camp. He then purchased his own milk route and hauled milk to Medford Creamery for 10 years. Walter went to live with his grandparents and helped on the farm. He later worked for Medford Co-op and hauled propane gas for 32 years and retired in 1987. Walter loved hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, reading, visiting the casinos and most of all he loved fishing with his grandchildren.

Walter is survived by his daughter, Marsha (Lee) Fritz of Deforest; grandchildren, Jesse (Jacqui) Fritz of West Hampton Beach, N.Y. and Jason (Laura) Fritz of Tomah; great-grandchildren, Hunter Fritz, Winston Fritz and Vincent Fritz; and brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Balciar of Medford.

Walter was predeceased by his wife, Margaret; siblings, Ernest Emil, Richard G. “Dick” and Irene Brunner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Walter's family to be designated at a later date or made out to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice.
