Eckes, Rose Ann (Heiting) (19 APR 1952 - 28 SEP 2018)
Rose Ann Eckes, age 71, of Stanley, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her
family at her home in Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018.
Rose was born in Stanley to Robert and Elizabeth (Mellow) Heiting on Aug. 7,
1947. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1965. On July 28, 1967, Rose was
united in marriage to her husband, Kenneth Eckes at St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church in Marshfield.
In 1989, Ken and Rose purchased Backwoods Bar and Resort on Island Chain of
Lakes in Weyerhaeuser and were proud owners for 15 years. Rose cared about every
customer, she had the ability to make anyone who visited the resort feel
welcome. She was very hardworking and many friends and memories were made with
her at Backwoods.
After retiring from Rockwell Manufacturing in 2013, Rose spent a majority of her
time fishing with her husband, taking care of her animals and tending to her
garden. She was passionate about her pets and each one held a special place in
her heart. She loved to cook and bake and visitors could guarantee they would
not leave her home with an empty stomach.
Rose will be dearly missed by her husband, Kenneth Eckes of Weyerhaeuser; her
brother, Jerry Heiting of Stanley; her son, Todd Eckes (Violet Wallace) of
Weyerhaeuser; her grandchildren, Amelia Eckes (Troy Collins) of Weyerhaeuser and
Josh Eckes (Sarah Knauber) of Chetek.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Heiting.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at
Backwoods Resort Bar and Grill, W14549 Plummer Road, Weyerhaeuser. The family
invites all friends and family to celebrate the many wonderful memories they may
have had with Rose.
