Jandrt, Louis (1900? – 26 NOV 1971)
A rural Boyd man died Friday morning as the result of a car-train collision in
the City of Stanley that occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m.
Louis Jandrt, 71, route 1, Boyd, became Chippewa County's 18th traffic fatality.
Chief of Police, John Boyce of Stanley, reported that Jandrt had pulled his car
out of a driveway between the Crane Feed Mill and the railroad track that run
across the main street of the city, Broadway Street.
Boyce said that Jandr'ts car stalled on the tracks and was hit by an extra
freight engine, 734, owned by the Soo Line, as it was traveling east on the
tracks.
The car Jandrt was driving was hit broadside before the train could be stopped.
Jandrt was thrown from the car and died at 11 a.m. at Stanley of severe had and
body injuries.
