Bartsch, Jane Electa (10 September 1930 – 5 October 2018)

Jane Bartsch, age 88, of Granton, WI died Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Marshfield Medical Center.

Jane Electa Crothers was born on September 10, 1930 at home in Granton, the daughter of Wendell and Mildred (Kintzele) Crothers. She attended Romadka State Grade School, graduated from Granton High School and then graduated from Wood County Normal School. Jane taught country school for 2 years and on July 1, 1950 she was united in marriage to Merle Bartsch in Granton. She spent the next several years as a stay-at- home wife/mother raising their family. As their family grew older, Jane, reentered the work force, working part-time at Figi’s for 20 years.

Jane was a member of the York Center United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, of which she held several offices. She belonged to the New York Homemaker’s Club, was on the Board of the Sampson Library in Granton and was secretary of the Granton Senior Citizen’s. She also thoroughly enjoyed her get-togethers with the “Normal” girls and the Granton girls.

She is survived by five children, Rick (wife, Janeen Cooper) Bartsch of Stevens Point, Connie Bartsch of The Villages, FL, Peter (wife, Gail Shavlik) of North Richland Hills, TX, Kay (husband, Loren Meddaugh) Bartsch of River Falls, and Jay (wife, Renee) Bartsch of Prescott, seven grandchildren, Timothy (wife, Heather) Bartsch, Nicholas (wife, Jessica) Bartsch, Brett Meddaugh, Elizabeth (husband, Ryan) Wolosyn, Payton Bartsch, Weston Bartsch and Mason Bartsch, three great grandchildren, Bailey, Elliana and Ethan and two nephews, Bruce and Mark Crothers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle, her parents, a brother, Jack Crothers, an infant sister and a son-in-law, Gene Steffens.

A Memorial Service for Jane will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the York Center-United Methodist Church in Granton. Pastor Patsy Roe will officiate. Music will be provided by Lori Rowe, organist. Interment will be in the Windfall Cemetery in Granton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the York Center United Methodist Church, N5889 County Road K, Granton, WI 54436.
