Wehlacz, Edwin E. (17 AUG 1927 - 7 OCT 2018)
Edwin E Wehlacz, 91 of Stanley died Sunday, October 7, 2018. He was born on
August 17, 1927 in Thorp to the late Charles and Josie (Stroinski) Wehlacz.
Ed grew up in Thorp and then entered the Marines during WWII. He served in
China, Guam and the Philippians for 7 and a half years. After returning from the
Marines he married Lucetta Schmidt on December 26, 1951 at St. Bernard’s
Catholic Church-Thorp.
Ed worked for the Roger’s Company for a time then moved home to Thorp, worked
for Fischer’s Hardware Store, owned and operated The Southside Grocery Store
from 1960-1975. Then, Ed was the Postmaster in Stanley until his retirement. He
enjoyed woodworking with his friend Pat Logan and watching sports. He was a
member of the Thorp American Legion and Stanley VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucetta of Stanley, three sons, Gary (Renette)
Wehlacz of Clairmore, OK, Gayle (Mary) Wehlacz of Coeur d’ Alene, ID and Dale
(Susan) Waters of Eagan, MN, four grandchildren, Quinn, Amanda, Sierra and Sky
and one great granddaughter, Gracelyn and Ed’s twin brother, Louis (Stella) of
Glendora, California.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ted and Victor and sisters,
Elizabeth Glanz, Virginia Mortensen, Emily Rohde and Clara Zwiarzynski.
A funeral service will be held at 4PM on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Plombon
Funeral Home-Stanley. Visitation will be from 2PM until time of service.
Interment in Oakland Cemetery will take place at a later date.
