Emstrom, Edwin “Eddie” E. Jr. (14 MAR 1935 - 8 OCT 2018)
Edwin “Eddie” E. Emstrom, Jr., 83, of Perkinstown, passed away on October 8,
2018 at Aspirus Hospital Medford.
Eddie was born on March 14, 1935 to Edwin Sr. and Pearl (Andrews) Emstrom in
Perkinstown. He attended Hannibal and Perkinstown schools. He farmed on the
family homestead throughout his childhood. After high school he joined the Army
and served in Korea from 1958 – 1960 as a tank driver. He then joined the
reserves for 6 years. After his military service he worked at the American
Motors Company in Milwaukee for 1 year. He then moved back to the homestead,
where he took care of his parents and started working at Hurd Windows and Doors.
He worked at Hurd for 3 years before joining the Taylor County Highway
Department in 1970. He worked at the Highway department for 26 years until his
retirement in 1996. In his spare time he enjoyed farming, especially chickens,
playing bingo, attending community events, playing cards, and spending time with
family and friends.
Eddie is survived by his sisters, Elin Sanders of Abbotsford, Ella Fischer of
Medford; nephews, Fred (Kelly) Emstrom of Medford, Teddy (Dawn) Fischer of Port
Washington, and Ned (Janet) Fischer of Chippewa Falls; niece, Nancy (Bill)
Sarring of Port Washington; step-niece Connie (Ray) Griesbach of Rhinelander;
step-nephew Jan (Barb) Armstrong of Medford. Eddie is further survived by many
other family and friends.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred (Clara) Emstrom;
brothers-in-law Ted Fischer and Robert Sanders; nephews, Robbie Sanders, Andy
Fischer, and Jeff Armstrong.
Funeral Services for Eddie will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 12,
2018 at Hemer Funeral Home – Medford Chapel, with Pastor Nancy Amacher
officiating. Burial will follow at Perkinstown Community Cemetery. Visitation
will take place on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Hemer Funeral Home from 10:00 AM
until the time of service at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Eddie’s name may be given to the family
for use at a later date.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with
arrangements.
