Lindberg, Donald J. (25 AUG 1925 - 18 OCT 2018)
Donald J. Lindberg, 93, Grafton, WI, formerly of Ogema, died on Thursday,
October 18, 2018, at the Aurora Medical Center, Grafton, WI.
He was born on August 25, 1925, in Chicago, IL, the son of Gifford and Gussie
(Matson) Lindberg. He spent his early life and schooling in the Chicago area.
Following his education he made his home in the Ogema area where he worked with
family members on a dairy farm and in the woods as a logger. He served his
country in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in the 71st Infantry Division. He was
married to Phyllis Arlene Miller on May 14, 1955, in Milwaukee. She preceded him
in death on June 2, 2009.
Following military service he returned to Milwaukee and was employed as a Postal
Carrier in the Milwaukee area until the time of his retirement. Following their
retirement in 1985 they made their home in Ogema. He was a member of the First
Lutheran Church, and the Johnson-Hallberg American Post, both of Ogema. In his
free time he enjoyed golfing, logging, playing cribbage and spending time with
his family and friends.
He is survived by his 5 children: John (Lynn) Waukesha, Glenn (Jeanne) Grafton,
WI, Jayne (Paul) Bodenbach, Union, KY, Keith (Mary) Campbellsport, WI, and Patti
(Dan) Rathke, Jackson, WI, by 14 grandchildren and their spouses, and by 13
great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his twin brother Arnold, and by 1
sister Anita.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at
the First Lutheran Church Ogema with Pastor Robert Giese officiating. Interment
will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Town of Hill with military honors
conducted by the Spirit American Legion.
Friends may call at the First Lutheran Church, Ogema, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018,
from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
