Krultz, Barbara (State Spelling Bee - 1975)
Barbara Krultz, seventh grade student from the Greenwood community schools
stayed through the fourth round with 50 spellers from throughout the state to
rank seventeenth in the annual state spelling contest sponsored by a Madison
newspaper.
Barbara had won the Clark County contest held at Colby. She tripped up on the
word, “Accrue,” in the state competition.
The top winner was Susan Strasman of the Cherokee middle school of Madison who
spelled “dossier” and then the final word, “resilient.” She will be
participating in the national contest to be held in Washington, D. C. Only
students from grades five through eight are eligible to participate.
Accompanying her to Madison were her mother, Mrs. Selvian Krultz and sisters,
Bonnie and Janice, and her teacher, Reginald Gobin and wife all of Greenwood.
The Krultz family lives on Rt. 3 Greenwood.
