Speck, Lena (1 JUN 1894 – 24 AUG 1969)
Mrs. Carl Speck, 75, died at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Wausau, Sunday,
August 24, 1969, at 6:30 p.m., following a lingering illness. The body lay in
state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford. Funeral services were held at
the First Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth Dix
officiated, and interment was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.
The former Lena Schimek was born June 1, 1894 at Medford. She was education in
the town of Holton School and lived in the township until her marriage to Carl
Speck on June 19, 1914, at Colby (Clark Co., Wis.).
They made their home at Abbotsford until four years ago, when Mrs. Speck became
a resident of the Havenet Nursing Home, Owen. A year ago, both Mr. and Mrs.
Speck wnet to the Colonial Manor at Wausau.
She is survived by her husband and two sons, Howard of Abbotsford and Eldred of
Denton, Texas. There are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She
also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Josephine Cooley and Louis
Schimek of Eagle River, and Mrs. Mary Brown and Frank Schimek of Ft. Atkinson.
A daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Scherer, preceded her in death, as did her parents, one
brother and one sister.
