Wussow, Kathryn M. (4 September 1911 - 2010)
Kathryn M. Wussow, 98, of Black River Falls passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010,
at Black River Memorial Hospital, Black River Falls, while under the care of
Black River Hospice. She was born Sept. 4, 1911, to Carl and Mathilda (Olson)
Malchow in Black River Falls.
Kathryn was raised in Black River Falls. She graduated from Black River Falls
High School. She was united in marriage to Kermit A. Wussow Dec. 23, 1933, in
Black River Falls. In 1965, Kathryn graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a Bachelor
of Science degree in teaching.
Kathryn taught for 16 years in Jackson County. She taught in Sandy Plains, Pine
Grove, North Bend, Alma Center and Humbird. She also taught for 13 years in
Kenosha.
She enjoyed having a garden in the summer and raising and enjoying plants and
flowers. Kathryn enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and baking during the
winter months. Her favorite activity was to spend time with her family.
Kathryn belonged to the Oak Grove Club, Alma Center Senior Citizens, worked at
the Red Cross Bloodmobile and belonged to Retired Teachers of Jackson County.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Alma Center.
Kathryn is survived by a son, Kermit Allen (Karen) Wussow of Black River Falls;
daughters: Kay (Larry) Manske of Black River Falls and LaVon (Ray) Gates of Alma
Center; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; several
great-great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Malchow, Jr. of Waukesha; several
nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit Oct. 13, 1986; parents, Carl and
Mathilda; brothers: Edson and Phillip; and sister, Marcella Higgins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 11 a.m., at Grace Lutheran
Church, Alma Center. Rev. Jonathan Wessel officiated. Burial followed in
Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls. Family and friends were invited for
visitation Monday, June 28, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Jensen-Modjeski Funeral
Home, Hixton. Family and friends were also invited for visitation Tuesday, June
29, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Memorials may be sent to Black River Hospice.
Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton assisted the family with arrangements.
