Fisher-Hutter, Elisabeth M. (12 JUL 1919 – 1 NOV 2018)
Elisabeth M. Fisher-Hutter, age 99, of Thorp, passed away at home on Thursday,
November 1, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services were held at
10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic
Church in Thorp. Rev. Baskaran Sandhiyagu officiated and burial followed in
Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI, with Beth's grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Sunday, November 4, 2018, from 5
p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation was also held at the
church, on Monday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of
service.
Elisabeth Mary Pagel was born on July 12, 1919, in the Town of Reseburg, rural
Thorp, to William and Harriet (Broeren) Pagel. She was raised and educated in
the Thorp area and graduated from Thorp High School in 1936. After completing
her education, Beth worked for a short time at the Northern Colony in Chippewa
Falls. She was united in marriage to Clarence G. Fisher on July 15, 1940, at St.
Bernard Catholic Church in Thorp. In addition to raising their family, Elisabeth
and Clarence co-owned and operated Fisher's Ace Hardware in Thorp. After her
husband's death in 1968, Beth continued operating the hardware store. She was
united in marriage to Karl G. Hutter on October 17, 1970. After retiring in
1975, Beth continued to live in Thorp until the time of her death.
She is survived by her children: Nancy (Duke) Haselow of Thorp, Carol (Allen)
Bower of Rock Dam, Mary Beth Gene) Menden of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, William
(Donna) Fisher of Waterford, WI, Susan (Roland) DeBauche of Thorp, Laurie Jo
(John) Sasse of Chisago City, MN; one step-daughter: Karla (Joe) Stafford of Sun
Prairie; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence, in 1968; her
husband, Karl, in 2002; one daughter, Kathleen Fisher; one son-in-law, Ron Haas
in 2006; two brothers: James and William Pagel; and one sister, Pearl Pagel.
