Emery Brunson was born in 1858 in Wisconsin to Lewis and Christenah (Frisbee) Bronson. He grew up to be a farmer, and worked several years from 1904 hauling cream for the Humbird creamery. Emery often played the fiddle at country dances.
He married his first wife, Lula (or Lulu) Taylor on Sep 10, 1889. They had three
children who all died young: Infant (1890-1890), Bertha Belle Brunson
(1892-1892), and Cristel Fern Brunson (1895-1896). All three children are buried
at Houghtonburg Cemetery in Alma Center, Jackson Co., Wisconsin. Emery and Lula
divorced in Apr 1901.
Emery met Celia Teberg, a widow with two sons, in Rice Lake. They married in May
1902. Celia and Emery farmed in Garden Valley, Jackson Co., Wisconsin. Between
1903 and 1913 they had four sons, Charles (1903), John (1904), Clarence (1905),
Roy (1907); and three daughters, Matilda (1908), Nellie (1911), and Mae (1913).
Matilda died in 1911.
While giving birth to stillborn premature twins, Celia died at the age of 39 on
November 14, 1914. She is buried at Houghtonburg Cemetery.
Emery died in Black River Falls on Aug 6, 1918 at the age of 60. He was laid to
rest at Houghtonburg Cemetery. His six surviving children were dispersed to live
with other families.
