Wilde, James "Pete" (24 DEC 1907 – 28 OCT 1969)
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, October 1, 1969, at the
Methodist Church, Colby, for James "Pete" Wilde of Colby. Rev. Wesley DeFoe and
Rev. R. James Hagen officiated at the 2 p.m. services. Burial was made in St.
Mary's Cemetery.
A general rosary was said Tuesday evening.
Mr. Wilde, 61, died Sunday morning, October 28, 1969 at St. Joseph's Hospital,
Marshfield.
He was born at Colby (Clark Co., Wis.) on December 24, 1907, and received his
education in the Colby school system. On May 7, 1924 he married Helen Simerson
at Abbotsford. He was engaged in painting and decorating his entire life,
operating Wilde's Paint Store for the past 18 years.
Mr. Wilde was a charter member of the Sportsman's Club, and member of the Colby
and Abbotsford Chambers of Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Robert Wilde of
Milwaukee, James and Gene Wilde of Colby; two brothers, William of Las Vegas and
Roy of Birchwood, Wisconsin; two sisters, Mabel (Mrs. Arnold Benz) of Milwaukee
and Gladys (Mrs. John Fecker ) of Abbotsford, and eight grandchildren.
Three sisters preceded him in death.
