Atcherson, Mr./Mrs. Otto (Gold – 8 OCT 1969)

Sixty Five guests attended the ham dinner given by the children of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Atcherson of Unity (Clark Co., Wis.) in observance of the couple's golden wedding anniversary.

The event was celebrated Sunday, October 12, 1969, at the Unity Memorial Hall.

The afternoon was spent in an open house, visiting relatives and friends. Decorations at the hall included a gold and white anniversary cake, and gold candies.

Mrs. Atcherson was given a corsage of fresh yellow roses and white carnations, and her husband a boutonniere of fresh yellow carnations. Both were gifts of the grandchildren of the honored couple.

Many other gifts were received.

The marriage of Otto Atcherson and the former Beryl Walrath took place October 8, 1919, at the home of the bride's parents at White Creek, Wisconsin, with the ceremony performed by the Rev. DeWitt of Wisconsin Dells.

Mr. Atcherson was born in the town of Lowville, near Columbia, Wisconsin, on September 21, 1892. He was educated at Plainsville and Madison, and then operated a farm. During World War I he served in th 69th Coast Artillery in both the U.S. and France, for one year, from March 1918 to March 1919.

He enjoys good health and his hobbies include hunting and fishing.

The former Beryl Walrath was born October 6, 1898, at White Creek. After completing her formal education, she worked as a waitress at Pine Resort at Wisconsin Dells.

Mrs. Atcherson is also in good health and enjoys fancy work and sewing.

Following their marriage, the couple lived aat Plainsville for four eyars, where they farmed. In December 1923 they moved to Unity, where they purchased a farm. They have lived in the same location for the past 46 years.

They retired from farming in 1965, and a son, Wilfred, is now the owner of the home place. They also have another daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Marlea) Hein of Stratford. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

Special guests at the celebration were their attendants when they were married, Mrs. Ardath Byers, Nekoosa, a cousin of the bride, and Rodney Townsend of Baraboo, a cousin of the groom.

Other relatives and friends attending came from Hancock, Michigan, Pennville, Indiana, and Wisconsin Rapids, Nekoosa, Madison, New Glarus, Milwaukee, Wisconsin dells, Sun Prairie, Stratford, Spencer, Colby, Abbotsford, Riplinger and Unity.
