Schwanebeck, Edna H. (21 March 1933 – 9 November 2018)
Edna H. Schwanebeck, 85, Pittsville, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018 at
Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau.
Edna was born on March 21, 1933 in Freistadt, the daughter of Rudolph and Irene
(Masch) Wilde. She was united in marriage to Ivan C. Schwanebeck on November 1,
1958 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Sherwood. They raised a family
and farmed and were blessed with fifty-five years together until his death on
July 6, 2013.
With her hardworking hands, Edna had the ability to create love and beauty. She
grew bountiful gardens and knew how to care for all types of flowers. She made
the practical beautiful, crocheting intricate afghans and personalized doll sets
for her grandchildren.
In addition to her talents, Edna had great faith. She spent many hours
volunteering at Bethesda, was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and
enjoyed participating in Bible studies and Ladies Aid. Edna’s greatest strength
was her trust in her Lord and a willingness to let others see that faith.
She is survived by a daughter, Ellen (Peter) Leick, and two sons, Randy
Schwanebeck and Ken Schwanebeck. She is also survived by three grandchildren,
Katie Fleming, Jackie (John) Knoll and Travis Leick; and four
great-granddaughters, Kiara and Parker Fleming and Hayley and Evelyn Knoll. She
is further survived by two sisters, Ruth Wegman and Janet (Norm) Petersen.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Edgar, Henry
“Hank” and Kenneth Wilde and a sister, Dorothy Lindhorst.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Peterson, the Aspirus Hospital Oncology Unit and
especially the staff of the Aspirus Procedure Unit, who became her “other
family” over the last four and a half months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethesda, cancer research or
mental illness research.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at St.
John’s Lutheran Church, Pittsville. Visitation will be held there from 9:30 a.m.
until service time. Rev. Gary Markworth will officiate. Burial will be in
